President's Letter

Liebe Freunde des Beethoven,

In 1913, the members of the Beethoven Männerchor dug in and rebuilt their beloved concert hall after it was gutted in a disastrous fire.

Now, it’s time to get to work again.

I’m writing to respectfully request a pledge in support of the upcoming renovation of our Halle. It’s in dire need of a top-to-bottom makeover that embraces its storied history, highlights its architectural assets and upgrades its acoustics and infrastructure. A modern, renovated Halle will generate revenue through event rentals, ensuring the sustainability of Beethoven Männerchor for the next generation and beyond.

As you know, the Beethoven is much more than a building. Since our founding in 1867, we’ve been a community dedicated to honoring German-Texan immigrants and the preservation of German music, culture and language in San Antonio. And, while many other German-American organizations have closed their doors, ours is still going strong with more than 400 members.

Today, as we approach our 160th anniversary, Smithdish Architecture has conceived an elegant, functional and timeless redesign of our Halle that will endure for decades. The total project budget is $1.2 million. All capital campaign donations are fully tax-deductible. Please don’t hesitate to contact me (president@beethovensanantonio.com, 210-325-5985) with any questions or if you’d like to meet over at the Halle and walk through our plans in more detail.

Thank you for considering this request!

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

David Uhler
